Samanvita Batalvi

A Promising Voice in Research and Service

The most meaningful change often begins with a simple question: How can what we learn help someone else live better? For Samanvita Batalvi, that question connects her interest in adolescent health with a broader commitment to community well-being. An aspiring medical researcher and emerging leader, she brings curiosity, initiative, and compassion to the work she undertakes—whether exploring the influence of social media on body image, sharing preventive-health information, or rallying students around environmental action.

Education

Samanvita attends Sanskriti School in Delhi, where she follows the CBSE curriculum and expects to graduate in May 2027. Her studies in physics, chemistry, biology, biotechnology, and English reflect both her interest in the life sciences and her appreciation for clear communication. This combination is especially relevant to her emerging goal of pursuing medical research: asking careful questions is essential, but so is making knowledge understandable and useful to others.

Research and Health Experience

Samanvita’s research interests focus on adolescent development and the factors that may shape young people’s well-being. In her independent survey-based project, “Analysis of Social Media Exposure, Body Image Dissatisfaction, and the Acceptance of Cosmetic Surgery Among Adolescents,” she examines how social media exposure may relate to adolescents’ body image and attitudes toward cosmetic procedures.

She designed and circulated a Google Forms questionnaire that received more than 100 responses, then considered the findings alongside literature on adolescent neurodevelopment and body-dysmorphic tendencies. The project reflects her willingness to investigate a complex, sensitive topic with curiosity and care. Rather than treating a survey as a final answer, she uses it as a starting point for deeper questions about development, social pressures, and the importance of informed support for young people.

Her interest in the developing brain also led her to the IYNA Neuroscience Summer Program, where she studied neuroplasticity, cognitive science, and brain development. For her independent capstone, she explored adolescent decision-making and the influence of brain development on judgment and behavior. Together, these experiences have strengthened her foundation in neuroscience and her determination to continue learning.

Samanvita has also gained an introduction to clinical practice through a three-week rural dermatology observership at Tantia General Hospital in Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan. Shadowing two dermatologists, she observed consultations, clinical procedures, patient-care practices, and preventive dermatology. She then created English- and Hindi-language flyers on sun protection and skin health. This small but practical contribution reflects a key principle of public health: information can make a difference when it is accessible and relevant to the people who need it.

Leadership and Community Impact

As President of Sanskriti School’s Environment and Biochemistry Club, Samanvita led more than 100 students from Grades 6–12. Her leadership was not confined to planning; it helped turn shared concern into opportunities for students to participate. Under her leadership, the club coordinated tree-planting and campus clean-up drives, e-waste collection, book and notebook drives, and uniform-recycling efforts.

She also organized biotechnology education and sustainability activities, including a soil and water health workshop at JS Aquaritin Global Labs, and led student orientations on waste segregation. Through these efforts, she helped make environmental responsibility part of everyday school life. She presented the club’s work to visiting Fulbright scholars and at sustainability review workshops involving local NGOs and schools across Delhi NCR.

Sanskriti School received the Zero Waste Campus Award from the Indian Institute of Environment and Ecology. This recognition reflects the school community’s sustainability work, to which Samanvita contributed through her leadership and student engagement. Her experience demonstrates a promising ability to bring people together, organize practical initiatives, and sustain momentum around a common goal.

Service and Experience

Samanvita served as an official examination scribe for 14 students with learning disabilities during school and board examinations. By helping students access the examination process, she took on a role that demanded patience, attentiveness, and responsibility. It offers a meaningful example of her commitment to inclusion—not as an abstract ideal, but as considerate support in a setting where access matters.

Her creative and collaborative interests further broaden her experience. A member of her school’s Photography Club for three years, she photographed more than 12 school events, with selected images featured in five official exhibitions. She also served on a dance club’s core committee, helping coordinate logistics, volunteers, and participants for two interschool competitions while contributing to meetings and choreography.

Honors, Skills, and Interests

Samanvita’s honors include the Daksh Puraskar for excellence in English and IT and an award for Excellence in Academics. She has technical skills in Microsoft Excel and speaks English fluently, Hindi natively, and Sanskrit at a limited working-proficiency level.

Her interests include photography and animal care. These pursuits complement her academic focus and reflect her attentiveness to the lives and environments around her.

A Future Guided by Curiosity and Care

Samanvita is at the beginning of her journey in medical research, but she has already shown the qualities that can help a young researcher grow: intellectual curiosity, a willingness to seek evidence, initiative, and a concern for others. Her work spans several settings, yet a common purpose runs through it—from studying questions that affect adolescent well-being to sharing health guidance, supporting students, and organizing environmental action.

What makes Samanvita promising is not simply the range of her interests, but the way she seeks to put them to use. With continued study and experience, she hopes to contribute to research that improves quality of life, particularly for underserved communities. Her story is one of potential being shaped through service: learning carefully, leading thoughtfully, and remaining committed to a healthier and more compassionate future for people, animals, and the world they share.
